What is a hair transplant?
Hair transplantation is restoring the hair that is lost due to genetic or hormonal conditions, drug usage, or an accident. In this process, the basic principle is to restore the hair while preserving its natural and aesthetic look of the hair.
Hair transplantation is a risk-free and minimale painful aesthetic treatment compared to others. That is because there is no cutting in this process, which results in no scar. In hair transplantation, the hairs, or grafts, are gathered from other parts of one’s body, preferably from the back of the neck or chest.
Hair Transplantation methods
There are two main methods of hair transplantation: FUT and FUE. In FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), a group of hair is extracted from the back of the neck and transferred into the transplantation area. However, with this method, there can be a scar left behind, and one may not be content with the look. As a result, the FUT method is no longer being used; instead, FUE is widely accepted as the primary method of hair transplant.
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is the most modern method of hair transplantation. It leaves no scars, and it’s painless.
In this method, the transplantation area is determined first. For the transplantation process, hairs in the back of the neck and back of the ears are extracted since hairs in these areas are far more resistant to hair shedding.
In the extraction process, hair follicles called grafts are extracted with the help of 0.7-0.9 micron motors. These grafts are categorized and numbered after extraction. They will be stored in a unique solution until the process of transplantation occurs.
Next, the transplantation area will be canalized. The most crucial thing in this process is to keep track of the rotation of the transplantation canals, which are very important for ensuring the natural look of the hair. Then, the transplantation process begins.
After the hair transplantation
The bandaging, which is put in place after the process, can be removed after 24 hours. The hair cannot be washed for three days. After the transplantation, red marks and scabs will appear in the transplant area, but this is normal. The cabs will end after one week.
After hair transplantation, one can have permanent and combable natural hair.
